CMC Indonesia, as a Partner of Plan International Indonesia, Strengthens Child Protection and Health Collaboration in East Aceh
East Aceh, January 26, 2026 – CMC Indonesia, as an implementing partner of Plan International Indonesia, held a coordination meeting with the DP3AKB Kabupaten Aceh Timur and the Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Aceh Timur to strengthen community-based protection for women and children in East Aceh District.
One of the main topics discussed during the meeting was the strengthening of Community-Based Child Protection (CBCP) as a strategic approach to prevent and respond to violence against women and children through active community participation.
The Head of DP3AKB East Aceh expressed strong support for CMC Indonesia’s initiatives and encouraged the establishment of a District-level Task Force for the Protection of Women and Children (Satgas PPA). However, DP3AKB highlighted that the task force has not yet functioned optimally due to the absence of a PPA Service Post (Posko PPA).
“The PPA Post is crucial as a reporting center for cases of violence, a coordination hub for the task force, as well as a child-friendly space and a psychological service room,” DP3AKB emphasized during the meeting.
During further discussions, DP3AKB also shared experiences related to the establishment of a CBCP forum in Pudawa Puntong Village, Peudawa Sub-district, which is currently inactive due to limited operational funding and lack of sustained support. DP3AKB requested CMC Indonesia, as a partner of Plan International Indonesia, to support the revitalization and sustainability of the CBCP initiative.

In addition to CBCP-related issues, DP3AKB raised concerns regarding the absence of a District Regulation (Qanun) on the Protection of Women and Children in East Aceh. At present, only a Regent Regulation on Child Protection exists. DP3AKB therefore requested technical support from CMC Indonesia to facilitate the drafting of a Women and Children Protection Qanun as well as the Child-Friendly District (KLA) Qanun.
The coordination meeting also involved discussions with the East Aceh District Health Office. Representing the Head of the Health Office, Abdullah, Head of the Maternal and Child Health Division, expressed strong enthusiasm for CMC Indonesia’s presence and programs, which he noted are well aligned with the district’s health priorities.
The Health Office highlighted increasing trends of violence against women and children in East Aceh, expressing concern that this situation could lead to a rise in child malnutrition, as violence and poor psychosocial conditions significantly affect children’s growth and development.
Furthermore, the Health Office raised serious concerns regarding environmental health conditions following recent floods, particularly due to hazardous waste such as batteries and damaged electronic devices containing electrolytes. These materials pose significant health risks if not properly managed.
“For this reason, we strongly support our involvement in awareness-raising activities and the provision of waste bins for hazardous electronic waste, initiated by CMC Indonesia, so that flood-affected communities can safely collect and dispose of electrolyte waste,” Abdullah stated.
Through this collaboration between CMC Indonesia, Plan International Indonesia, and the East Aceh District Government, it is expected that CBCP initiatives, the establishment of the PPA Task Force, and the integration of child protection, health, and environmental concerns can be strengthened and gradually replicated across other villages in East Aceh District.
