About Us

Who We Are

Cendikia Muda Cemerlang (CMC) formerly known as Children’s Media Centre is a child-centered, community-driven non-profit organization based in Aceh, Indonesia. Since 2005, we have been at the forefront of protecting children’s rights, empowering vulnerable communities, and building resilience in the face of disasters and conflict.

Born in the aftermath of Aceh’s devastating tsunami and conflict, CMC has grown into a trusted partner for local communities and international organizations alike. Our mission is simple yet profound: to ensure every child is protected, heard, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Why We Exist

Children in Aceh and across Indonesia continue to face challenges that threaten their safety, dignity, and future—natural disasters, poverty, displacement, and social exclusion. CMC exists to change this reality.

We believe that every child deserves protection and recognition of their social existence. Through creative, democratic, and child-friendly approaches, we empower children and youth to become active participants in shaping their communities.

Our Impact

Over the past two decades, CMC has:

  • Reached thousands of children and youth through forums, peer education, and advocacy dialogues with local authorities.
  • Led humanitarian responses for Rohingya refugees in Aceh, ensuring child-friendly camp management and psychosocial support.
  • Innovated peace-building strategies using social media, journalism, and creative campaigns to engage young people in reconciliation.
  • Strengthened community resilience through health, environment, and disaster risk reduction programs.
  • Amplified children’s voices globally via multimedia projects and exhibitions.

Our programs have not only provided immediate relief but also built long-term systems of protection, participation, and empowerment.

Partnerships That Strengthen Us

CMC’s credibility is reinforced by collaborations with respected international partners, including Plan International, Terre Des Hommes Germany, DFAT , UNICEF Indonesia, CAFOD, the Open Society Institute (OSI), and American Friend Service Committee (AFSC). These partnerships reflect our ability to deliver impactful, accountable, and scalable programs.
